Players with the most touchdowns in NFL history

By November 7, 2022No Comments

The NFL has provided sports fans with some of the most iconic moments in American sports history. The touchdown is synonymous with the NFL, and most people who do not watch the sport will understand the concept of a touchdown, or at least will have heard of the term. Today, we’ll look at a handful of the players who have accumulated the most touchdowns in the game’s history.

The remarkable thing about some of these players is that they were not highly touted when they came through college. However, they went on to create incredible legacies for themselves. This includes multiple MVP awards, first-team All-Pro nominations and Super Bowl wins. Suppose you’re looking for information about the Super Bowl this year and the favorites to lift the trophy – in that case, the best sports odds online will give you a comprehensive breakdown of the top teams and their odds of winning the trophy. In addition to this, you can also find predictions for the upcoming season and last season’s playoff race.

 LaDainian Tomlinson

LT is the first name on our list today. He currently sits in third place in the all-time list for most touchdowns in NFL history. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. LT had the season of his life back in 2006 when he broke the record for the most touchdowns in a single season and also scooped up the MVP award for that season.

Of course, given his legendary exploits on the pitch, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame, and he still graces our screens today. He can regularly be seen on television analyzing the game and providing commentary.

Emmitt Smith

While we’re on the topic of legendary seasons, if you thought LT had a good 2006, wait until you hear about Smith’s 1993 campaign. He became the only player in NFL history to lift the Super Bowl, the MPV, the Super Bowl MVP and the rushing crown in the same year. This feat showed just how special Smith was as a player. NFL enthusiasts know the effect he had on the sport, as he and his teammates regularly competed at the sport’s highest level for over a decade.

Again, much like Tomlinson, he was never going to miss out on the Hall of Fame. Smith currently has the second-highest number of touchdowns in the history of the NFL. Some of his individual records were the stuff of legend. His ability on the pitch was up there with any of the greatest wide receivers. Many analysts and fans believe he and Jerry Rice are the two best wide receivers in the history of the NFL.

Jerry Rice

That brings us nicely to Jerry Rice. With more touchdowns in the NFL than any other player in history, he is widely regarded as the best wide receiver of all time. In addition, he is regularly considered one of the greatest NFL players of all time, in any position. Jim Brown will probably still take the crown regarding that particular title. However, the fact that Rice finds himself in such esteemed company shows just how incredibly gifted he was. He is a true hall of famer with ludicrously good stats and individual records to back them up.

Only a few people out there would dispute his place at the top of this list. The gap between him and the rest of the wide receivers is staggering, with 33 touchdowns separating Rice and Smith. It’s unlikely we will see a wide receiver as well-rounded as he was for an extremely long time.

Conclusion

Some players missed out on this list by the skin of their teeth. That isn’t to say they aren’t some of the greatest NFL players to have ever graced the sport. Honorable mentions for both Terrell Owens and Randy Moss, who would get into any team in the history of the NFL, are definitely in order. However, we had to narrow it down to three today, which is why we went for the top three players with more touchdowns than any of the others in the game’s history.

Owens and Moss are both exceptional athletes in their own right, and it would be wrong for us to omit any of the three legends who have made this list. Maybe in 10 or 20 years from now, there’ll be the rise of another wide receiver who can give Jerry Rice a run for his money in the ATG charts, but it doesn’t look like it’ll be anytime soon.
